You’d expect the Las Vegas Raiders to be seasoned at head coach searches — they’ve done this almost annually for five years. Now, they’re seeking someone to rebuild for the long haul.

We know that the two finalists for the job are Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and Denver Broncos’ passing game coordinator Davis Webb. However, the biggest question now is: When will they hire a head coach, and which of the two will it be?

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, he expects every open head coaching job to be filled by Wednesday.

“I would think that we would have all these head coaching jobs filled this week. Probably sooner rather than later. I wouldn’t be surprised if by Wednesday, there are no openings left,” Schefter said on The Pat McAfee show. “The Raiders, it looks like it could be Davis Webb.”

The Raiders could end up with the perfect HC for Fernando Mendoza

Las Vegas has the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. With that pick, the national perception is that they’re taking Mendoza, the Indiana quarterback. The Raiders haven’t had a franchise quarterback since Derek Carr, who was, unfortunately, not good enough to get the Silver and Black over the hump.

With Mendoza likely joining the Raiders, the team’s head coach will shape his development. Kubiak offers consistent offensive systems and stability, reducing concerns about Mendoza constantly learning new schemes. His experience and network could help assemble a solid staff to support this process.

Webb, on the other hand, brings firsthand quarterback experience and is seen as a potential QB mentor. His recent work with Bo Nix highlights his ability with up-and-coming talent. While both candidates have unique strengths, the Raiders’ choice will define the team’s long-term strategic direction and Mendoza’s future support.
