One of the signings the Las Vegas Raiders made on Wednesday meant a lot more to one individual than the rest. Sure, they all mean a lot because these are special days for guys who are about to make a lot of money to play football in Silver and Black.

But, for former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jalen Nailor, it means more, as he’s from Las Vegas. Because of his connection to the city, he’s known for weeks that joining the Raiders is something that was more than possible, but something he legitimately wanted to do.

“It means the most to me, just to be able to come back to a familiar place. Got tons of connections here. The former Bishop Gorman alum said during the introductory press conference. “I see my guy, Mark [McMillian], in the back, with people that I’ve known growing up, and it’s just a blessing to be here… I mean, it didn’t really hit me until a few weeks ago, just talking about it with my agent, and just felt like this was the right fit for me and the best fit for me to show what I can do on the field.”

Raiders plan to use Nailor

Vegas agreed to terms with Nailor on a three-year deal worth $35 million, including $23 million in guaranteed money. So, they’re going to put the man to work and try to get their money’s worth. The good thing is, Nailor has some elite traits like speed that make it easy to get him involved in the game plan.

It’s pretty obvious by now that the Raiders are going to draft Mendoza, and they are going to put weapons around him. This move allows the Raiders to still have an option for a WR1 in the 2026 NFL Draft if they want to go that route, while also leaving room for a potential breakout guy in Nailor. Last season, behind guys like Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, Nailor finished with 444 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns. Nailor also finished with 15.3 yards per catch, showing that he can be an elite threat in that intermediate to deep part of the passing game.

They need as many weapons around Mendoza as possible, and this addition already makes the wide receiver room better than it was last season. So, it’s a step in the right direction. Nailor, who grew up in Las Vegas, is with his hometown team, and he felt like it could happen before it ever did.
