The Las Vegas Raiders are set to play the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, aiming to improve to 2-3. However, they could be without both tight ends, Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer, as Bowers is questionable, but Mayer is out with a concussion.

So, the Raiders made a roster move, bringing on two players who could help them in the passing game to replace what both bring, in case Bowers is also out. The Raiders signed wide receiver Alex Bachman to the active roster, along with placing LB Brennan Jackson on IR. Then, on Saturday, they elevated tight end Albert Okwuegbunam, who previously played for the Denver Broncos.

Raiders will need any help in the pass game they can get

With Bowers trending as a DNP against the Colts, and Mayer out, Bachman and Okwuegbunam could play big roles in the passing game. Last week, the Raiders got the running game going against the Chicago Bears, but that was against the worst run defense in the league.

So, you can’t just rely on that this week when the Colts aren’t necessarily bad at stopping the run, and have shown some good moments there. Indy averages under 100 rush yards allowed per game at 96, good enough for 10th-best in the league. They allow the 12th-most passing yards per game at 223, so it would be more beneficial to attack them there. However, as we’ve mentioned many times, the Raiders won’t quite have the manpower to do that.

In the preseason, before he was hurt, Bachman was one of the best depth wide receivers. He has played 12 gams in his four-year NFL career and totaled three catches for 31 yards.

As for Okwuegbunam, he was on the Indianapolis Colts last year, but didn’t play. He’s played for the Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles, and he’s got 54 catches for over 500 receiving yards and four touchdowns. So, they’re elevating and signing experienced players.

Perhaps they don’t see the field much, or maybe they contribute a great deal. We’ll see on Sunday.
