The Las Vegas Raiders are indeed at the bottom, and that is no secret. They currently sit at No. 5 in the 2025 NFL Draft order, with some of the teams above them still having games where they will play one another. While the season has been hard to watch, this is what needed to happen, believe it or not.
Now, did the players think they had a shot at winning a lot of games this year? I'm sure. But, a playoff season was never going to happen this year. Now, they need to lose as much as possible, while maintaining competitiveness.
So, they will have a new identity about them for the rest of the year. Sure, they will be a team that loses a lot of games, but they won't get run over. And, who says they won't mess some things up for some of their other rivals? They now can play Joker and spoiler to some teams.
And Maxx Crosby loves this role.
“If we’re not going to be the king of the castle right now, might as well go and ruin everyone’s season," Maxx Crosby said on his XM Radio show.
The defense isn't what it was last year, but, it's still the best part of their team, if that says anything. This team can still get better. But, the playoffs are done, long gone. So, if they want to play the role that Crosby wants to play, they will need to improve a bit the rest of the way.
The good thing is three of their remaining games are all divisional games against the Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Denver Broncos. Two of them in the New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are teams that aren't looking the best at the moment and have some injuries on their roster, but are both perfectly capable of beating the Raiders.
The Raiders are ready to mess stuff up.
