Earlier this week, Pete Carroll and the Las Vegas Raiders moved on from linebacker Germaine Pratt, who did not travel with the team to play the Indianapolis Colts. Pratt was not injured, so there’s no clue why this happened, but it is clear that the Raiders have already found a few replacements.

According to the Raiders PR team, they signed linebacker Jon Rhattigan to the active roster, signed linebacker Jamin Davis to the practice squad, and released quarterback Jeff Driskel from the practice squad.

Raiders will use Pratt’s release to get other guys more involved in defense who weren’t before

“Yeah, well, we are really excited about changing that format a little bit,” Carroll told JT The Brick when asked about the LB room after Pratt’s release. “We want to get Malcolm [Koonce] to play some more to bring him off the edge. And, you will see us mix in a combination of our backers where Jamal [Adams] will be in there more.”

In terms of replacing Pratt, it feels like Adams will be the guy they try out the most. His safety background could be useful in playing as a cover linebacker, but even as a safety, he wasn’t great at that. Other options are obviously Cody Lindenberg and Tommy Eichenberg, and now the two linebackers they signed.

Pratt won’t be easy to replace, as he was having a pretty decent season. With a 64.3 overall coverage grade, per Pro Football Focus, Pratt played 116 pass coverage snaps. According to Sports Info Solutions, Pratt has allowed five completions on nine targets for 59 yards while in coverage, but no touchdowns allowed, and he also has one dropped interception.

Rhattigan is an undrafted LB from Army, who has played a total of 53 games in his career, for the Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers, and Pittsburgh Steelers. So, he has some experience. Davis has played 54 games in his career for the Washington Commanders, New York Jets, and Minnesota Vikings. He has six career pass deflections and one interception, while Rhattigan has neither in his career.

The Raiders will likely try to get these guys up to speed, and both could be inactive on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans before playing next week. Or, they could play for all we know.
