With the Las Vegas Raiders’ win over the Tennessee Titans, the coaching staff and players can use the 24 hours for what it’s really meant to be used for. They can celebrate for 24 hours, but then get back to work for the next game on their schedule, which happens to be the Kansas City Chiefs, in what could end up being a very important game for the AFC West division. Pete Carroll hasn’t gotten to use that rule since Week 1 against the New England Patriots.

The players and coaches haven’t gotten to celebrate anything since then, as they lost four straight after their Week 1 win.

“The last time we won was such a long time ago,” Carroll told reporters after the game. “We can’t even remember…These guys deserve to feel [how] they feel right now.”

The defense, in particular, played their tails off, so they deserve this win. The offense was better, which isn’t saying much, especially when you look at who they were playing, but there is plenty to be happy about.

Raiders defensive stats vs. Titans

  • Held Titans to 65 Rush Yards
  • 160 Passing Yards Allowed
  • Three Turnovers Forced
  • Sacked QB Cam Ward Six Times for 62 Yards

Raiders need to use the winning momentum to beat up on Kansas City

The Chiefs are not the same team they have been in years past. No, literally, they have been so many different versions of themselves, and the one they are now most resembles the one they were in 2018, during Patrick Mahomes’ first year, or maybe 2019 during his second season.

They aren’t the best at running the ball with Kareem Hunt and Isaiah Pacheco, but their offense through the air is pretty dang good, and the defense hasn’t been playing that well. They can’t rush the passer. So, this is similar to what we’ve seen in their dynasty era, just not what we’ve seen the last two years, or even three years, where the defense was elite and the offense was good, or the defense was elite and the offense was bad.

The Raiders still have to get some major things fixed, specifically on offense. In a way, it feels like they were hiding Geno Smith on Sunday, by making him dink and dunk the entire game for just 2.9 air yards per attempt, the shortest of any game this season outside of Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers against the Cleveland Browns’ great defense. But let’s be honest, this is the Titans we are talking about here.

They have to fix it, and if they can, we could see this team right back in the divisional race.
