‘I’m processing it pretty poorly, to tell you the truth’ – A harsh realization is settling in for Pete Carroll after loss to Colts
The Las Vegas Raiders lost again, and Pete Carroll is still stunned.
The Las Vegas Raiders suffered an embarrassing loss on Sunday to the Indianapolis Colts, with a final score of 40-6, failing to even score a touchdown. The Raiders are now 1-4 on the year, in a season when head coach Pete Carroll guaranteed they would win a lot of games.
“I’m processing it pretty poorly, to tell you the truth, because I did expect to win right out of the chutes,” Carroll said, reflecting on that offseason statement. “But, what I am seeing, and what I am feeling, is that I know by the way we are working, because I have watched a lot of teams work, that it is ongoing, and it feels like we are going in a good direction with that, it’s just not showing up here.
“Don’t forget last week, we had the winning drive to go down the field and win the game… hoping we go back home and play right again. It’s going to start sometime; I’m just waiting for that moment, it’s on all of us. I thought it would be last week, and this week, and I’m going to keep thinking that way, and I hope you guys do too.”
It’s starting to set in for Carroll that his first season in the Silver and Black could be a losing season. But there is still time.
The Raiders could get the season back on track next week
The good news with this team is that they play the Tennessee Titans next week, who are not good and may be the worst team in the NFL. The Titans are so bad that their rookie quarterback is in press conferences, flat-out saying that they are a terrible team.
Their defense is giving up 21 points to the Arizona Cardinals before the half, scoring just six points at the time of writing this. So, the Raiders could absolutely use next week to get on track. Then again, we said that about their game against the Chicago Bears, who are not a good team, and we all saw how that went.
Something has to change with the Raiders. No one thought this team could be worse than last year’s, but so far, they’re on track for that type of season.
