The Las Vegas Raiders have made some free agency moves that are really good, moves that the entire league notices. But, they have also made some moves that are great but not getting quite the attention it should be getting.

It's a huge move for the Raiders to sign Jeremy Chinn, the former Washington Commander's safety, to replace Tre'von Moehrig at a much lower price. The same can be said about former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Elandon Roberts, who looks like he can do exactly what Robert Spillane did but for $3 million a year. And, who knows, these moves could all end up being bad ones for all we know. Either way, it's those kinds of signings that are getting all the attention and love.

However, one that should be talked about more is the signing of former Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert. No, he likely won't be a starter. So you have to take everything with a grain of salt, especially at $2 million for one year. Mostert will likely be a depth guy. But, when you think about having a guy who scored 21 touchdowns in 2023 as your backup, it doesn't get much better than that, right?

And this pretty much tells us that the Raiders are going to definitely draft an RB in the 2025 NFL Draft. And with that comes the biggest role that Mostert will play in 2025.

"Yeah, I kind of take that with pride. One thing that, that I truly try to implement within the running back room, and then even within the locker room is, 'Hey look, you help me feed my family, I'll help you feed yours.' That was just a saying that I picked up along the way in my career, and so that saying just stuck with me throughout these years. If you help me feed my family, I'll help you feed yours. We all work together. It's never really supposed to be any grudge within a team. It's all supposed to be team driven, team aspect, team work hard and go out there and produce and have fun doing it as well," Mostert told reporters on Wednesday.

"Wins, sometimes you're going to get some ugly wins, sometimes you're going to get some really good wins, but at the end of the day, a win is a win. So, if you're able to go in and help with that, that mentality and that mindset – and also, I know that Coach [Pete] Carroll is going to do an unbelievable job with that too. Just me playing against him for all these years when I was with the Niners and he was with Seattle, I know that he's going to implement that as well."

This running back room is pretty young. Everyone outside of Mostert is 25 or younger, while Mostert is 32. And, Mostert has been around the block, with multiple teams, and had some very successful seasons, as well as some bad seasons. He's dealt with injuries, he's dealt with have his best physical seasons yet. So, if there is a veteran to learn the good and the bad from, I feel like Mostert may be the perfect guy for that job, and the fact that he is open to it, and has a passion for it, means something special, too.

And, let's say they need him to play some snaps — he still has a bit of juice left. Last year on paper doesn't look great for him, but Mostert's stats are a product of being the backup on a bad offense.

According to Sports Info Solutions, Mostert was hit at the line of scrimmage 40 times, in which he had 85 run attempts on the season. This is an easy way to kind of depict how the offensive line was bad in the run game. It doesn't tell the whole story but it certainly gives you an idea.

Mostert will be a great backup as long as the offense and the scheme fit. And, he will be an even better leader.
