The Las Vegas Raiders haven't hit on many first-round picks in the last five years or so. If we are naming the ones we are for sure they hit on, Josh Jacobs is at the top of the list.

Some other picks that went terribly wrong are Alex Leatherwood, Clelin Ferrell, Henry Ruggs, Damon Arnette, John Abram, and Gareon Conley, just to name a few.

In 2021 the Raiders took Alex Leatherwood, and he was released this last season. Just like that, not even three full seasons he is gone. The Raiders' last regime didn't do much right, to say the least.

This upcoming draft is so important because of that. They had plenty of chances to get it right in that 2021 draft, and they didn't. In fact, one NFL analyst, Adam Rank of NFL.com did a 2021 re-draft and had the Raiders fixing their biggest problem.

The Raiders erase this reach from history and preempt a huge need from developing on defense by going with Campbell, an original second-round choice by the Jags who have racked up five picks and 25 passes defended over the past two seasons. (I really did think about slotting Mac Jones here. But honestly, I'm not sure where Jones ends up going in the first round … or if he even does. Stay tuned!)

Tyson Campbell was huge for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season. Even as a rookie, he was one of their best cornerbacks, if not their best. Imagine this guy on the Raiders with Nate Hobbs. The two of them would be locking down each side of the field.

And we all know the Raiders' biggest need is defensive back help. But, back then they also needed an offensive line, badly. At the time it seemed like a fine pick. But, as we all know, it definitely wasn't. I think if they could go back they would make the Tyson Campbell pick in a heartbeat.
