The Las Vegas Raiders have to hit the NFL draft, pick players to fill out their roster along with the undrafted free agents, and then they are ready to hit the ground running in the offseason. It doesn't take long to get back here towards the start of off-season workouts, and after recent dates being revealed, it seems like it could be here before we know it.
The Raiders will be doing things a bit differently this offseason than they have the last two offseasons, so expect that. But, also expect this team to work their tails off to make that next jump. They were so close to making the playoffs that everyone doubted them that they were hungry to get better.
Before they can prove that on the field, they have to put the work into the practice field; they will be able to do that pretty soon, too. Recently, the NFL released the offseason workout dates for every team.
- First Day: April 15
- OTA Offseason Workouts: May 20-21, May 23, May 28-29, May 31, June 3-6
- Mandatory Minicamp: June 11-13
There are three phases of the voluntary workout program. Here are the descriptions of each phase per the NFL’s press release:
Phase One:
Phase One consists of the first two weeks of the program with activities limited to meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation only.
Phase Two:
Phase Two consists of the next three weeks of the program. On-field workouts may include individual or group instruction and drills, as well as “perfect play drills,” and drills and plays with offensive players lining up across from offensive players and defensive players lining up across from defensive players, conducted at a walk-through pace. No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted.
Phase Three:
Phase Three consists of the next four weeks of the program. Teams may conduct a total of 10 days of organized team practice activity, or “OTAs”. No live contact is permitted, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted.
It's important to remember that this will be very different from how it has been the last two offseason with Josh McDaniels, who was very conservative. We have no idea how Antonio Pierce will be because we haven't seen it in any offseason yet. So, this should be fun.
2021 re-draft has the Raiders fixing their biggest problem
The Las Vegas Raiders have not hit in the first round of the draft in quite sometime, and this re-draft has them fixing their biggest problem.
