When the Las Vegas Raiders took Ashton Jeanty in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, most of the fan base rejoiced. And then, they realized there was still work to be done. The Raiders still have some pretty big holes on this roster to address on Day 2.
Luckily for Las Vegas, the way the board fell after they did their pick is amazing for what they need. In Round 2 and even Round 3, there will be some very good players available at some very important positions that the Raiders have in need. One of those is the cornerback position.
Now, unlike Day 1, where it's just one round and one pick, for the most part, the Raiders have two picks on Day 2, one in the second round and one in the third round. When the second round gets underway, there are only a few picks until they are on the clock at No. 37. Day 2, and early in Day 3, is where the real money is made.
So, let's get into a mock draft for Day 2, shall we?
Las Vegas Raiders' Day 2 Mock Draft
Round 2, Pick 37: Luther Burden, WR, Missouri
If he is available at 37, which is very possible, I simply do not see the Raiders passing on him. That would have the Raiders getting two of the best weapons in the entire draft in Ashton Jeanty at RB, and a top-3 WR in this draft in Burden. Now, some of you may ask, okay, why is he even available if he's one of the best? Well, this draft has already shown that WRs aren't being taken early, not as early as we thought, and there were also some character concerns from teams.
However, he is so good that you may have to live with some of those concerns and take a shot at him. Imagine the offense with former Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith at the helm, throwing to Brock Bowers, Jakobi Meyers, Luther Burden, and handing it off to Ashton Jeanty. If he is not available, I can see the Raiders taking Ole Miss CB Trey Amos. But the teams ahead of Burden could very well pass on him. The one I would be worried about is the Houston Texans and one of the Cleveland Browns picks. But the Texans didn't pick in the first round, and will need to go offensive line, and the Browns, well, they are the Browns, and no one has any clue what they will do.
Round 3, Pick 68: Darien Porter, CB, Iowa State
Since they weren't able to get a CB in the second round of this mock draft, they have to get one in the third round. They have to walk out of Day 2 with at least one cornerback, whether it's in the second round or the third round is a different story, but they have to walk away with one on Day 2, because the need is far too big not to. They are in desperate need of a guy who can start right away, and they would get that if they go with Amos or even Benjamin Morrison in Round 2.
If they go with Darien Porter, a very raw CB, but one that is athletic and has the traits that Pete Carroll loves, he could start right away. There would be bumps along the way, similar to how there were with Jakorian Benntt, but it would be more than worth it. Other options at Pick No. 68ld include guys like Dorian Strong, the CB from Virginia Tech, WR Kyle Williams, WR Elic Ayomanor, EDGE Josaiah Stewart, or LB Chris Paul.
Hidden gems after Round 1 who would be a great fit for the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2025 NFL Draft
The Raiders could take one of those guys.
