2025 could be the year the Las Vegas Raiders finally get back to the playoffs. Sure, there is also the chance that they don't get to the playoffs, and there is also the chance that if they did get there, that they wouldn't win their game.
But this offseason has instilled real confidence in the fans for the future ahead, and that's in large part thanks to what former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, along with his new running mate, John Spytek, the new general manager and former assistant general manager of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has been able to do.
They have put together a pretty good team on paper, and the coping experience is certainly there, too. The Raiders are in good shape to be a team that improves on last year. Then again, is that going to be hard to do? They won four games last year.
This year, they could be a wildcard team. And, with what Carroll has said a few times already this offseason, the 2025 schedule and the ending of the schedule could really help get Carroll what he wants most — a wildcard spot.
Raiders' 2025 schedule has perfect two-game ending
When it comes to the end of the season, the Raiders could end up being in the hunt for a wildcard spot with both the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Chargers, teams who both made the postseason last year under the Kansas City Chiefs as division leaders.
The Raiders have the perfect bye week in Week 8, and after that, they have a stretch of games that could help them get closer to a wildcard spot if they are already out of position. But their last two games, if they are really in the hunt, could be huge for them.
In Week 17, the Raiders are set to play the New York Giants, which won't be an automatic win for the Raiders, but it should be a win nonetheless. The Raiders are the much superior team, and the Giants are, well, not very good.
Then, in Week 18, the Raiders are set to play the Chiefs. But, hold on — they should be sitting most of their starters like they have the last several years because their spot in the postseason won't change with a Week 18 win or loss. And, the Raiders have played the Chiefs well as of late, anyway.
Winning those two games, two games that could very well be easy ones, could have implications on the postseason seeding, for all we know. And, we know Carroll wants to be in the postseason.
