In Week 4, we got our first taste of what the Las Vegas Raiders could look like with a rookie quarterback running things, and honestly, it was about what you would expect. The rookie quarterback played in his first game, and the first half definitely looked like it.

The Los Angeles Chargers got to him and sacked him seven times, including six from former Raider Khalil Mack alone. He had a tough time getting rid of the ball in the first half as he fumbled three times and lost two, all from being hit inside the pocket.

However, when the second half rolled around, more specifically the fourth quarter, O'Connell settled in a bit, and he looked legit. On his last drive of the game, he threw to Davante Adams almost every play, but it worked. He was hitting the check down, finding the big play when needed, and getting them in range to score.

Sure, he threw the game-losing interception on the goal line, but that play was a bad one called for O'Connell. And, not to mention, he's a rookie. That happens.

Jimmy Garoppolo was ruled out this Sunday as he deals with a back injury. We don't know if O'Connell will get the nod again or if it will be Hoyer, but we do know that O'Connell is ready no matter what. He is doing one of the hardest things a rookie must do – prepare, not knowing his role.

"Again, it's a one-day-at-a-time process, I think, and every day has a lot to take in," O'Connell said on Thursday. "So, I'm trying to focus on whatever today has and do my best."

I'm sure O'Connell will know before we do if he is starting; however, he likely doesn't know at this moment, as it's Thursday, and they have one more practice left. Hoyer could be the one to go since we saw some positive things from him on Sunday against the New England Patriots in the second half. Either way, the Raiders should be ready against a bad Chicago Bears team.
