This whole season, minutes a few games here and there, the Las Vegas Raiders' defense has been strong. When the team went up 14-0, there was a sign that maybe we would see the same thing against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Of course, everything came back to reality. The Raiders were up by 14 and ended up losing by 14. The defense was pitiful, as the Chiefs ran right over them and found players like Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice repeatedly.
But we all saw that. One thing that you may not have seen was one Raiders starter, an All-Pro at that, get pulled for most of the game. That starter was new Raiders' cornerback Marcus Peters, who signed with the Raiders in the offseason.
Coming into this season, it was thought that he could be CB1 and at least hold it down against some of the more elite receivers in the league. Despite his pick-six, he has been terrible, to say the least.
After the 31-17 loss to the Chiefs, interim head coach Antonio Pierce let everyone know why Marcus Peters was not in the game and instead on the sideline wearing a beanie instead of a helmet.
"Coaches decision," Pierce said when asked why Peters was pulled.
Peters has been almost afraid to tackle this season. It has been one of the bigger discussions of the season on the defensive side of the ball. It's honestly been very disappointing.
It seems like every time a Raiders defensive back wears No. 24, Charles Wodson's former number, it never ends well. This is another example. I wouldn't be shocked if he gets released soon.
