The Las Vegas Raiders are trying to get back anything in return that will make them better for the future and right now in this Davante Adams trade. There is a lot of drama going on right now for the Raiders, but when is there not? It's been awkward.
Davante Adams wants to be traded. He's done fighting the battle of denying it, and, he finally gave in. After coming to the Raiders to play with his best friend Derek Carr, he's not happy anymore and hasn't been happy for a while, and it's been clear. Now, he wants out. He wants to go somewhere he can get his touches, but also win. That just isn't happening in Las Vegas.
Now, the hard part is trying to get a trade done. Because of the contract, it's easy. But, the Raiders are the ones who seem to be making it difficult. Several reports indicate this could take a minute for the team in silver and black to conclude how they want to go about this.
According to Dianna Russini, there are quite a bit of teams who have called to check in on Adams and to see what the return would be if the Raiders were to do a trade. But, Russini reported that one "decision maker" for a team called and mentioned that they already moved on after hearing the asking price for the return.
In other words, it sounds like the Raiders are asking for too much. That could mean that they are asking for a first-round pick, and other teams just simply do not believe that Adams is worth a first-round pick. Adams has two more years after this year left on his contract, and the cap hit will only get bigger and bigger, according to Spotrac.
The Raiders seem unwilling to budge unless they get what it is that they want. And, that's good. But, they are also scaring teams away already. Adams likely will be out against the Denver Broncos as he deals with a hamstring injury.
