The Las Vegas Raiders may have turned things around. I mean, the vibes sure are turned around. You have Raiders fans saying they enjoy this team again and couldn't stand to watch before. They are tuning in to see how Antonio Pierce will have the guys playing.

It's just one week, so we really don't know if they have turned things around yet. Even if they have turned things around, they can always get better. No team in the league is perfect. This team has a ton of issues still. Yes, they beat the breaks off of the New York Giants, but so has a ton of different teams. There are a few things they still need to try and fix or improve at the mid-season point.

With eight games left on the season, here is the Raider's biggest need at the midpoint as they gear up for the New York Jets.

Raiders' biggest mid-season need

It's crazy to think that the Raiders have had a poor offense and a somewhat good defense this year when last season was the opposite, and this year was supposed to be a repeat of 2022. Obviously, the offense being as bad as it was is a big reason the Raiders fired Josh McDaniels, the offensive guru.

But even with the offense being the worst part of the Raiders team in terms of what our eyes have seen, the roster on defense still needs far more work than the roster on offense does. The defense, while it just had eight sacks and a huge night against the Giants, could easily improve up front still.

Just like what Antonio Pierce said on Wednesday – the defense was good, but they should not have allowed 100 rushing yards in the game. Maxx Crosby is the only guy active in both the passing and run games. Everyone else is one or the other, and the run defense seems to still be an issue from when it was against the Chicago Bears.

The bad thing is that there really isn't anything they can do. There aren't really a ton of free agents out there who could come in and help right away. They are kind of stuck with what they have and improving from within.
