The Las Vegas Raiders went with the best player available strategy in the first round with their No. 6 pick, and whether you believe it was the right pick or not, you can't deny that it solves a problem the Raiders had last season.

Now, it only solves part of the problem. The Raiders had the worst running game in the league last season because their run scheme wasn't catered very well to what their running backs did well, but also their running backs weren't very good, and the offensive line really wasn't that good.

So, while the roster is instantly better with Jeanty than it was just hours ago, they still have more work to do. The Raiders have a ton of holes on their roster. Luckily for them, the way the board fell, they can get some really good players at No. 37 overall in the draft on Friday in Rounds 2 and 3.

So, that begs the question, when the clock comes back on Friday, and teams can start making picks again, who are the Raiders supposed to target? What are their biggest Day 2 needs?

Raiders' biggest Day 2 needs in 2025 NFL Draft

Why don't we go ahead and rank the biggest needs that the Raiders have on Day 2, or should I say, the only positions the Raiders should really target, unless there is a player on the board that they just absolutely cannot pass up?

1. Cornerback

I think it's safe to say that everyone would agree with this — the biggest need from here on out is the Raiders' cornerback room. They just got rid of Jack Jones, leaving guys like Jakorian Bennett and Darnay Holmes to pick up the pieces, and that's just not realistic. If they want a guy who can start Day 1 at the CB spot, they should get one in the second round. There are still some really good guys available, like Trey Amos, Benjamin Morrison, and others. This is the biggest need, and before Day 2 is over, it needs to be addressed.

2. Offensive Line

As we said earlier, the Raiders fixed half of their running game issue from last season, now they have to fix the other half, which would be the offensive line. And, the offensive line wasn't just bad in the run game last year; they were also terrible in the pass game. Heading into 2025, the Raiders will have three players from the 2024 season who were top-ten in blown blocks in Kolton Miller, DJ Glaze, and Alex Cappa, the former Cincinnati Bengals OG. This draft has some good offensive linemen, but you don't want to wait too late.

3. Wide Receiver

There is no doubt that the Las Vegas Raiders are going to be hunting for a new weapon in this draft, and maybe even on Day 2, as they want to try and put as many weapons around Geno Smith as possible. I mean, after all, that is what the Seattle Seahawks have done the last few years. There are still some really good WRs left, like Luther Burden, Jayden Higgins, Tre Harris, Jaylin Noel, and Kyle Williams.

4. Edge Rusher

The Raiders have Malcolm Koonce on a one-year deal, with no idea if he will be the same or not, and if he is the same, if he will be back in 2026. So, they need an edge rusher because after that, Tyree Wilson is in a contract year, too, and he hasn't quite panned out so far. There are some very good edge rushers here, but especially guys like Miek Green, Landon Jackson, and Jordan Burch that you would have thought would be gone by now.

5. Linebacker

The Raiders still need an off-ball linebacker who can cover because Devin White and Elandon Roberts can't do that, and they won't be able to anytime soon, especially at this point in their careers. This is a position, though, where you can probably wait until the early part of Day 3, but there are some good ones on Day 2, like Chris Paul from Ole Miss.
