Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce has been put to work this bye week, and it just started. He started by firing offensive coordinator Luke Getsy and a few of his staff he brought with him like quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello and offensive line coach James Cregg.
Now, he has found who will likely be calling the plays, along with a familiar face with a ton of experience that he will be bringing in.
On Tuesday, just hours away from the NFL Trade Deadline, the Raiders hired Norv Turner. Yes, you read that right, Pierce got the former Raiders head coach to come out of retirement to help with the offense, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. That kind of makes us assume that his son, Scott Turner, who was already on the staff, will call the plays.
He was 9-23 as the Raiders head coach in 2004 and 2005. But, he is widely known as one of the best offensive minds the game has seen.
The Raiders will hope that Turner, and his son, can bring the Raiders offense to where it needs to be. But honestly, seeing that team is 2-7, is that really what you should do?
The writing is on the wall that this team will not be making the playoffs. Why not stick it out with what you have and make a push for a great draft pick while also competing?
Las Vegas Raiders have officially run out of patience with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy
It was bound to happen.
