The Las Vegas Raiders got a lot of things wrong this offseason. One of the things they didn't get wrong, was drafting rookie tight end Brock Bowers, who should win the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award despite the poor record his team has. But, that's a different conversation for a different day.
If there is one thing fans can hang their hat on about the future of this team, it's that, no matter who the quarterback is over the next few years, they will have a weapon in Brock Bowers and a guy who will always make a push for that best tight end in the league title.
Now, he has the official title of the best rookie tight end ever, and, you can make a case for him being the best rookie pass catcher ever, too. He broke several records on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. Here is what the Raiders PR team wrote during the game:
TE Brock Bowers has now passed Amari Cooper (1,070) for the most receiving yards in Raiders history by a rookie at any position in a single season. TE Brock Bowers has now passed Hall of Fame TE Mike Ditka (1,076 in 1961) for the most receiving yards by a rookie tight end in a single season in NFL history. TE Brock Bowers is now just 1-of-8 tight ends of any experience level in NFL history to record 105 receptions in a single season.
Bowers has also passed Puka Nacua of the Los Angeles Rams for the most receptions by a rookie pass catcher. He is doing things that have literally never been done.
The one thing the Raiders have over other teams at the top of the draft, that will make Las Vegas an enticing spit to play for, is that they have Bowers. He's the best in the league this year, and now he's the best rookie tight end of all time. Brock Bowers and the Raiders will play the Los Angeles Rams next week.
Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers just had the best game of any rookie at his position ever
The Raiders have a special kid.
