The Las Vegas Raiders will play their first real cold weather game this weekend in Pittsburgh against the Steelers, but star Davante Adams isn't worried about it, at all.
Playing in cold weather for NFL players isn't usually any different than playing in a warm weathered game. However, when the temperatures get to below 10 degrees, and there will be wind gusts of 40 miles per hour like there will be this weekend, it's a bit different.
Playing in Las Vegas definitely has its perks. It is beautiful weather all year round. It's hot in the summer, and definitely not freezing in the winter. But, it makes it harder to prepare for cold weather games like their next one.
For Adams, though, the preparation won't be any different than it has been before or any other week.
"It doesn't affect it," Adams said of his preparation being affected. "I played almost 10 years in Green Bay, so I'm ready to rock."
Playing in Green Bay, Wisconsin does have its perks as well. Well, it has its perks in terms of playing in cold weathered games and using that as an advantage against other teams like the Raiders.
Adams will use that and every cold, snowy, wet game he has played during his time with the Packers on Saturday, as he should. The Packers have one of the best home-field advantages for two reasons. First, they have some of the best fans in the league, who are very loud. Secondly, the weather there in the winter is brutal.
In Pittsburgh, on Saturday the high is 11 degrees and the low is three, according to AccuWeather. Eight of the Raiders' 14 games have been played in a dome or an indoor stadium. Las Vegas has only played in three cold weather locations so far this season, and none of them were lower than 20 degrees. This will be a lot different than what they are used to.
While all of that is true, there are tons of players on this team that has played in cold weather locations before or cold weather games. I mean, the Raiders do play in Kansas City and Denver every season. I think Adams will be okay.
