The Las Vegas Raiders drafted eight rookies in the 2024 NFL Draft. They went with four defensive players and four offensive players, as both sides of the ball needed help. They grabbed some really good players that should be able to help in 2024, even as rookies, and you can say that about almost every single one of them.
As far as one of the day three guys that could have the biggest impact, he is getting on just fine so far in the NFL.
"It's been so cool, it's been so cool," Dylan Laube said. "I'm just playing against these guys that are unbelievable and just kind of now in a spot where I'm with guys grew I up watching all the time. I'm just like 'Oh my gosh, I'm actually here now.' It's cool man, it's cool man.
"Coach Pierce is cool man, he is a guy you just want to run through a brick wall for. The whole staff – it's been such an amazing experience. It's been so supportive, and I couldn't think of a better team to be a part of."
Laube has a chance to be a special player for the Raiders – not like a guy who is a game-changer, MVP-type player, but like a guy who can be pretty significant for the team, and much better than people realize. He will play special teams, is willing to do it, and can be lethal as a running back in the pass game too.
Not only that, but the dude said he's willing to play defense if it means getting on the field. You don't see that or hear that often from rookies – that they are willing to play all three phases of the game. He can be a really fine player, which is great for where the Raiders drafted him.
At the end of the season, Laube could end up looking like a player who makes everyone wonder how he was even available on day three when the Raiders took him. He was wondering the same, considering other teams were calling him before.
"It was such a long day for me," Laube said of the day he got drafted. "I waited for I think five hours just sitting there and watching every name and every single number, and thinking when is it going to come. And, actually, a few teams called me, but it was kind of more like a prank call, but it wasn't at the same time.
"It was more like, 'Hey, we don't have any more picks left, but we're hoping to snag you after the draft.' I'm just like okay, sure. Finally, I got the call, and I was just so fired up. I was just so fired up that my dream actually came true."
Laube was projected to go late or go undrafted because he played at a small school. In fact, it wasn't just a small school, but New Hampshire, one of the smaller schools of players who entered the draft. But, that really doesn't mean anything. He's good, and he's going to show everyone – even the teams who called and passed on him.
Raiders’ Dylan Laube is willing to do what a lot of players don’t want to if it means making the team
The Raiders will love that.
