Las Vegas Raiders are already having some early competition for a head coach they should be pursuing hard

2024 has been an uneventful year when it comes to winning football games for the Las Vegas Raiders. They didn't do much of that at all. In fact, when you really put into perspective how their last two head coaches have done, it's pretty easy to see that they haven't been doing a whole lot of winning in some time.
Through the same amount of games as head coach, Antonio Pierce and Josh McDaniels have the same exact record at 9-16, which isn't good. Now, it could be worse, yes, but both head coaches proved that they were right for this job, at this time, anyway.
And while there is still a chance that the Raiders keep Antonio Pierce, moving on would be best, not because the team needs a fresh start or anything like that, though. In fact, they almost need the opposite. They need a head coach who is going to be able to be around for some time and build continuity.
But with the guys that will be available this cycle, the Raiders should try and go after them. One guy we have all heard now and discussed about it being a serious possibility, is former Tennessee Titans head coach and former Cleveland Browns linebacker coach this year, Mike Vrabel.
Vrabel has that Tom Brady connection from their days with the New England Patriots, and his style and personality fit so well with the Raiders. It would be a no-brainer. But then again, there are other teams interested as well.
The New York Jets are interested and are even getting a head start.
Jets interviewing Mike Vrabel
On Friday, news surfaced around the league, first reported by The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt, the Jets are interviewing Vrabel on Friday at their facility. And, they can do this because they currently don't have a head coach. The Raiders obviously can't because they still have one.
My thing is, they kind of waited too long to get things moving last offseason. If you're going to fire Pierce, fire him. Don't beat around the bush, because other teams are getting a head start on you.
Mike Vrabel linked to Raiders job due to relationship with Tom Brady
That would be an interesting destination
