The Las Vegas Raiders just fired Antonio Pierce and are already trying to find their next leader on the football field to try and win more games in 2025 and beyond. This franchise is in a pretty low place, as they will only extend their streak of over 20 years without a playoff win. So, as we said the last two times, this hire is very important.

And give the Raiders credit this time. They are doing their due diligence. They are adding coaches to their list to interview left and right and are adding names that everyone should want rather than trying to stray away from them because they want to be different or think they may see something in an assistant way down the coaching list.

No, instead, they have already added coaches like Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to the list, as well as an interest in former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, even though we now know he is not interested in returning to the NFL.

Names like his and Mike Vrabel we kind of knew would pop up because of the Tom Brady connection.

One name we didn't see coming is Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. After winning three Super Bowls as a DC, Spagnuolo is widely considered the best defensive coordinator of all time.

And, I'm not sure if you have seen some of the things he has schemed up against some really talented teams, but he's one of the best to ever do it. But, he coached for the Chiefs, won Super Bowls with them, and has been there a while, so fans will cringe at that pairing.

But, to me, this is not a pairing that will happen. Spagnuolo is happy where he is, and he just got his wife to move to Kansas City after being on the East Coast for so long. He's from New Jersey and isn't extremely interested in being a head coach, and if he were to be one it would probably be for the New York Jets, the area he is from.

Raiders fans can let out a sigh of relief.
