When you think of the NFL, there are a few teams that come to mind based on what the global perception of the league is. Globally, it's the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, and the Las Vegas Raiders, really. The Raiders are one of the most popular sports franchises in the country.

A large reason why is because they have such a huge fan base, and one could even say the best fan base. They are a team whose fan base ranges from all over the country, whether it be in New York City, or down in Miami, Florida. And we know that Raider Nation is strong on the West Coast, too.

The fan base is a large reason players have always wanted to play for the Silver and Black. They are a big reason that it means more to be a Raider than it does any other team. And the players, current and former, have shared that.

The Las Vegas Raiders have a long history of winning, and while they also have a long history of losing in the last 20 years, they used to be the most feared team in all of the NFL. Back in the day, they were considered the best of the best, and a team that some would call a dynasty because of how dominant they were overall.

The Raiders have also had some very dominant players throughout that time. One of those players was wide receiver Tim Brown, who is the NFL's seventh all-time receiving leader.  Brown shared a message with the fan base and explained why they are the reason he stayed so loyal.

"I had a couple of opportunities to leave," Tim Brown said on the Jim Rome show. "A lot of people don't know, but after the 1993 season, it was a great year for me, the first year I made the Pro Bowl as a receiver, I signed a contract to go to the Denver Broncos because there was so much going on with the Raiders. Marcus Allen just left. I felt like I was getting all the wrath, and I just wanted to play football and not deal with it.

"But the Raiders brought me back, and I had a long conversation with Mr. Davis, and it really cleared the air on me being there for the rest of my career, for the most part. I wish I could have finished my 17th year there. But, you know, it's something about the Silver and Black. It's something about the fan base. They love so deeply that it's really something that you feel is really a part of your family. It really makes you want to be there as much as you possibly can for them."

That is a story that a lot of fans may not know. Just think – he almost left for their biggest rival. If that had happened, what would the fan base of thought of him then? But, he stayed, and for a long time, too. And a large reason why he did is because of the fan base. It doesn't get much better than that.
