The Las Vegas Raiders' new quarterback recently received some insane respect from one of his former All-Pro teammates.
With Jimmy Garoppolo and the Raiders' current situation, you don't know what will happen. This is one of the odd quarterback situations we have seen recently. The Raiders signed an injury-riddled quarterback to a huge deal, knew he was hurt and failed his physical, still signed him, but ended up putting a release clause in his contract because of the injury.
Yet, they still need a backup plan. You are greatly mistaken if you think Bryan Hoyer and Aidan O'Connell can win enough games to get this team into the postseason. The Raiders messed up this offseason.
But it could be better to look at the negatives. You have to stay positive. You have to think about what Garoppolo would bring if he is healthy and brings some great things.
He can run the offense, is consistent, and is a winner. But there is something else Garoppolo is too: Tough and a will to win.
"Let me just keep it real," Deebo Samuel said on FS1 last year. "We can take it back to the Titans game when Jimmy G hurt his thumb. Remember, he already had his shoulder issue. The guy comes back a week after hurting his thumb — almost had to have surgery — the man can barely grip the football, but come[s] back and [has] the season that we needed him to have in order to put us in a position to win. Mind you; he can barely grip the football; he's got a shoulder injury.
"That's why I respect Jimmy 100 percent. Doesn't nobody know what the guy really goes through? So, you just think about that: as a quarterback, not being able to use your thumb the way you need to use it. And you've got a right shoulder injury and still played the way you played. That's all I need to see."
Fans and even the media are worried about what could happen with the Raiders and their quarterback situation. And sure, it isn't a good one to have. However, if this guy gets healthy, we will see exactly what Samuel said.
The Raiders need a guy that will get the job done no matter what. That's who the Raiders believe they got. Now, we have to wait and see what happens.
