The Las Vegas Raiders were so, so close. A win last week would have planted them right back into the middle of the AFC playoff race.

Instead, they blew a late lead to the Los Angeles Rams and fell to 5-8.

They have an uphill battle to get back into playoff contention, and it starts this week against the New England Patriots. Luckily, the Raiders get a bit of a lucky break for this week's matchup. LV played last Thursday while the Patriots just played on Monday night.

Accordingly, the Raiders are getting extra rest compared to their opponents again in Week 15.

This will give the Raiders a bit more time to get healthy as well.

Hopefully, they will get som key pieces back in order to get a win against a banged-up Patriots team.

The Raiders need a bounce back performance badly. Their first half performance last week was solid, but both sides of the ball crumbled late in the game.

Josh McDaniels and the offense cannot afford to take the foot off the gas against a coach like Bill Belichick. Even if New England isn't the most talented squad, they will still compete for their legendary head coach.

McDaniels will attempt to get a meaningful win against his former team. The Raiders won't have any excuses if they can't do that this week.
