They need guys who play that Raiders style of football that we all watched growing up. They need guys who aren't afraid of anything, including the moment, and they want guys who are gritty. That's what this regime is about, and that's just another reason this draft is so important.
But there is one position group that the Raiders need to look into more than the others, and I think we can all agree it's cornerback. We would all like to think we know what they should do and who they should grab, but general manager Dave Ziegler described what he is looking for in a cornerback out of the draft.
Ziegler and the Raiders want a cornerback who "makes plays on the football," like interception, pass defended, and just being physical at the point of attack. He also likes "press technique," too, something that defensive coordinator Patrick Graham will also love.
The Raiders certainly need that, and I think there are plenty of guys in this draft who show those qualities. One of the best in the draft, and a guy most want the Raiders to take in Devon Witherspoon, is one of them.
For now, we will just have to wait nearly a week to see who is going to get their name called in Kansas City.
