The Las Vegas Raiders can get one of the best players on defense this summer if they execute everything the right way, and we all know, they need as much help that they can on defense this offseason.
The Raiders' defense has two pretty good players on it, that is if you are basing an opinion on this last season. Maxx Crosby, one of the best edge rushers in the league, and Nate Hobbs, one of the best cornerbacks in the league, are the two who shined the most.
Of course, we thought Chandler Jones could be a guy that could wreck opposing teams' game plans, but it obviously didn't work out that way.
The secondary though needs help and a lot of it. They can immediately help it, bring it to at least league average, if not more, by acquiring one player that is available via trade.
Yeah, you guessed it, Jalen Ramsey, who is one of the best cornerbacks in the league, and one of the best defensive players in the league. And, per Ramsey himself via a deleted tweet, he could get traded.
The Raiders could really use a guy that can shut down the other team's best receiver, while also locking down lanes and zones. But, Ramsey won't be cheap, and his contract isn't cheap either.
Ramsey has a 2023 cap hit of $25 million, which can definitely put a dent in a team's salary cap. But, it's a good thing the Raiders have a ton of cap space now that Derek Carr is gone.
If the Raiders want Ramsey, they don't necessarily have to give up any players to get him to create cap space. So, if the Raiders expect to put an offer in on the All-Pro cornerback, expect it to be a ton of picks the Rams would be receiving.
Ramsey is the type of player that cost a lot, which is why his contract is so big.
Imagine Ramsey, Crosby, and Hobbs on the field together at the same time. It would for sure be trio opponents would fear.
