The Las Vegas Raiders, like all of the other teams, are cutting a ton of players as today is the roster cut-down day. Teams must go from 80 to 53 players by the end of Tuesday, August 30th.

The Raiders cut both Darius Phillips and Matthias Farley on Tuesday. Phillips, the veteran cornerback that played the last four years in Cincinnati, signed a one-year deal with the Raiders back in March.

He, however, didn't have a great preseason, as he tallied just nine total tackles in three preseason games.

Matthias Farley, the veteran safety has three career interceptions and 14 pass deflections in 87 games. He played in 17 games for the Tennessee Titans last season and the New York Jets, and Indianapolis Colts before that.

Farley was cut because of his preseason performances as well.

There were people behind them on the roster that played better during the preseason, and are much younger. Sam Webb is a guy who is about to be given a big opportunity to show what he can do.

Webb made the roster, and I think it's solely on what he did in the preseason. He outplayed everyone he was up against at the position.

The Raider's new regime is about guys who are going to play and are going to play hard all the time. That's what Webb did in the preseason and that's what they want.

Webb is younger than those guys too. He has speed at a size most guys shouldn't have and can play more than one position. I'm excited to see a guy I pulled for all preseason get his shot.
