The Raiders have a very important draft coming up where they have to nail their picks because we all know how bad they have been drafting, so, what they do could impact Josh McDaniels.
The Las Vegas Raiders have been terrible in the first round over the last five years or so. If you wanted to name a first-round pick that has hit in the time span, there is really only one – his name is Josh Jacobs, the league's best running back last year. The Raiders have missed on at least seven of their first-round picks since 2014.
In this draft, they have the seventh overall pick, and they have to get it right. Fans are starting to get restless and upset by the fact they haven't been a competing team in quite some time. In fact, they haven't won a playoff game in 20 years, and have only made the playoffs twice since 2003. That's why McDaniels could be one of the more impacted coaches in 2023 after the draft, and one CBS Sports analyst agrees.

One year into his tenure as Raiders coach, McDaniels has already swapped out team icons like Derek Carr and Darren Waller in exchange for old Patriots pals Jimmy Garoppolo and Jakobi Meyers. Those moves on their own certainly aren't reprehensible. But what happens next at key spots like QB could determine how safe he really is as Mark Davis' chosen man post-Jon Gruden. Garoppolo is only in town as a placeholder, and it's very possible McDaniels will sign off on a QB at No. 7 overall.
After all of the moves they made this offseason to bring in guys that know how to run the offense and the system, McDaniels has no choice but to get this draft right and show some sort of improvement. This offseason is a huge one, and the draft is even bigger. The Raiders and McDaniels could be impacted the most by this draft, good or bad.
