This week, things could really start to heat up for the Las Vegas Raiders and their general manager/head coach search. They have both spots open, and the sooner they hire both, the sooner they can start prepping for 2024.

They have already started interviewing general managers, as Mark Davis would like to have that piece already in place when he hires a head coach. However, he had yet to start interviewing head coaching candidates. The first one was Leslie Frazier on Monday.

As far as the general manager hire – their top candidate, the former interim general manager, is impressing everyone. Based on what one insider said, he could very well get hired elsewhere soon. Here is what Raiders insider Hondo Carpenter of Sports Illustrated tweeted recently on Twitter:

I spoke tonight with a source with the Carolina Panthers. "Champ Kelly killed his interview with us. He used no notes, breaking down the roster, and was inspiring. By far, his was our longest interview and will be stunned if he doesn't get a second one." More on this tomorrow.

The Raiders also like Ed Dodds, who was in Indiana last season with the Colts. He would likely be the guy to hire based on everything we are hearing; however, there are a few other teams who like him. Based on the GM tracker we created, he has already done his interview with the Raiders.

As far as Kelly, he was one of the guys who made some of the roster moves this season, like going to get Jack Jones, etc. The players love Champ Kelly. Now, we will have to wait and see what happens with him.
