Well, it turns out the Las Vegas Raiders made the right decision to bring in former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
He may not be a traditional gunslinger, but he has accomplished some things in the NFL — including quarterbacking the Niners to a Super Bowl appearance in 2019. Recently, in a tweet by the analytics-based site SumerSports, Garoppolo ranked fourth behind the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow in performance in high-expected pass situations.
Garoppolo isn't a flashy name, but he clearly knows how to play the position at a starter's level.
He is also an improvement over the 2022 starter Derek Carr, who is now in New Orleans — for good reason.
It may have not been the name that many thought the Raiders would go after, but it is still an upgrade over what was, and it is an homage to what can be for a franchise that has struggled with consistent quarterback play for the better part of a decade.
