Raiders HC Josh McDaniels has surprisingly good record vs. his former mentor

Every head coach comes from some type of tree if that makes sense. Your head coach usually comes from the Any Reid or Bill Belichick trees. And, of course, you can sprinkle in some Pete Carroll and Sean Payton, too. The Las Vegas Raiders' head coach, Josh McDaniels, comes from the New England Patriots – Bill Belichick Tree.
And his coaches, the offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi, and a few others on staff do, too. Usually, the predecessors or understudies don't beat their mentors and former head coaches. That's just how it goes. I mean, sometimes they do, but most of the time, the experience wins.
Well, I should say that's how it goes for guys not named Josh McDaniels. Sure, McDaniels' start to his Raiders' head coaching career has been pretty bad, to say the least. However, for what it's worth, he is 3-0 against Bill Belichick.
The first win came when he was the head coach of the Denver Broncos a long time ago, in 2009. The Broncos won that game 28-10, and an old Bleacher Report article from 2009 sees a fan saying McDaniels will lead the Broncos back to the playoffs. But we all know how that ends up playing out.
The second win came last season when Jakobi Meyers, who now plays for the Raiders, threw a lateral pass that was intercepted for a pick-six to win the game. And then, of course, this year, they did it defensively.
It doesn't mean anything, really, but it is pretty cool that one of the worst coaches in the NFL has never lost to the greatest coach of all time.
Even Patriots legend Julian Edelman has little faith in New England against Raiders
That’s not a good look for the Patriots.
