Raiders: Josh McDaniels looks bad after recent comments before big trade
The Raiders have been in the news a lot lately, and this definitely won’t help.
The Raiders have been in the news a lot because they are making moves this offseason. No, really, they probably just made the biggest moves so far, considering Aaron Rodgers still hasn't been traded at the time of this writing.
They traded away one of their best players, Darren Waller, who is the highest-paid tight end in the league. Waller is now in New York with the Giants, while the Raiders just received a third round pick, the same pick the Giants got for Kadarius Toney from Kansas City.
Essentially, the trade was Kadarius Toney for Darren Waller.
It was something that had been in the works for over a year, according to Ian Rapoport. But, we didn't really know that until Tuesday. But the comments made by Josh McDaniels several days ago make him look bad, and make the trade look somewhat questionable.
“I have a great deal of confidence in Darren Waller… he'll be a big part of what we're going to do going forward," McDaniels said two weeks ago.
In my opinion, that makes him look pretty bad because he led fans on. He made them think something he may have known wasn't going to happen. And he didn't even have to say that last part.
Now, not only are they without Waller, but they could be without Renfrow soon too, as trading him before Friday will save them money.
This just doesn't look good on McDaniels, and I know I'm not the only one who thinks so either.
