The Las Vegas Raiders have lost some pretty tough games this season, to say the least. But, none tougher than the last one. There were so many narratives in this game, this one has to sting a bit more for the boys in silver and black.
Las Vegas can't seem to escape embarrassment this season. Not only were the Rams 3-9, but they were also playing with a quarterback that had been with the team for just 48 hours.
I mean, Baker Mayfield probably had no idea who he was throwing the ball to yet. Then, you add in the fact that the first half for the Raiders was great on both sides of the ball, and the second half was the complete opposite. Let's also not forget they blew their fourth 13-point lead this season.
The way they are losing these games, and this one, in particular, is absolutely gut-wrenching. It has to affect the mentality of the team, right?
“I mean, none of them feel good," McDaniels said on the bad losses this season. "I mean, it's a gut punch. And, God, we've had a few of them where we got a chance and just for whatever reason don't end up getting it closed out. There's been a number of reasons why. And so, look, I mean, I think we have a mentally tough group.
"I think we've handled some adversity this year with a good attitude and the right approach, and that's what we all need to do. We're professionals and they'll have an opportunity to get little rest here and try to get their mind away from things for a few days. And then when it's time to come back, it's time to go back to work. We got four more games that we have control over, and we will put everything we got into them and see what happens."
The Raiders have to have a strong mentality after everything that has happened to them this year. I mean, from this game to the Colts' loss to Jeff Saturday to the blown lead to the Jaguars, and even being shut out by the defense that allows the most points per game, at that time, in the New Orleans Saints.
While this loss was terrible, and not what I saw coming at all, I don't think the Raiders will let this affect them heading into next week against the New England Patriots, as they have 10 days between games to get that loss off of their mind.
