The Las Vegas Raiders recently released veteran running back, Kenyan Drake. The situation was weird based on the detail of his contract.

Drake got $5.5 million in the spring from the Raiders and is still owed $2.5 million by the team this season, bringing Drake's total payout in 2022 to $8 million – all without him playing a single meaningful snap this season.

The Raiders also paid Drake this $8 million figure in March. They could've released him and saved the money, but instead decided the opposite.

And, according to Over The Cap the Raiders only save around $250,000 after the move, which makes the move even more curious.

But Drake isn't worried about the details or the math. He made that very clear on Monday.

"Either way the Raiders have to pay me," Drake told Josina Anderson.

According to Anderson, who spoke with Drake shortly after the release, Drake was disappointed in his time with the Raiders. Not because of what he did, but because of how the staff acted during his time there.

"I never felt like I had a fair shot to really compete for the job coming off the injury. At the end of the day that's business…," Drake told Anderson.

"I feel like as time progressed through camp there really wasn't a role for me to have anymore because they had guys that they brought in, they traded for & I was kind of odd man out, especially coming off my injury. Other than that, I'm at peace with it because I know my capabilities as a player."

You never really want to hear about a guy who feels like he didn't have a fair chance to make the team. However, I'll say this. The guys above him simply deserved it more.

He didn't outplay any of them. Josh Jacobs is the undeniable starter, and the Raiders really want White to be the backup. Brittain Brown made everyone aware he was good enough to play in this league, especially as a backup.

Hate to hear things like that from Drake, but he will definitely get picked up by another team.
