Raiders make roster move before Saints matchup

Before the game, though, the Raiders made a roster move. According to the Raiders PR team, they activated tight end John Samuel Shenker from the practice squad.

Shenker played college football at Auburn University, where he was part of the Auburn Tigers team. He played for five seasons, setting records as the school's all-time leader for receptions by a tight end with 68 catches, and ranking second in program history among tight ends with 779 receiving yards. His standout season was in 2021, where he set Auburn single-season records for a tight end with 33 receptions and 413 receiving yards.

Shenker went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft but signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. His journey with the Raiders has been marked by several transitions between the practice squad and the active roster.

He was initially released during the roster cuts but was quickly added back to the practice squad. Shenker has oscillated between being signed, released, and re-signed to the practice squad multiple times during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

He was promoted to the active roster on September 28, 2024, after being signed and waived multiple times. He has appeared in games, with one catch for seven yards noted in the 2024 season. Shenker has been involved in recent roster adjustments, including being signed back to the practice squad after being waived from the active roster.

The Raiders need to lose this game against the Derek Carr-less Saints.
