There was some confusion earlier this offseason when the Las Vegas Raiders fired general manager Dave Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels. The confusion wasn't that they were fired. The confusion was about which of the two was really having control over everything.

It was said that Ziegler didn't actually have control. Hondo Carpenter at Sports Illustrated broke all of that down a bit more; however, this time has to be different. There cannot be any confusion. Mark Davis wanted the GM to have control, not Antonio Pierce.

It's nothing against Antonio Pierce; it's just that you don't usually want the head coach to have two jobs. But, this time, Davis made sure to set the tone straight. He made sure to let people know what the pecking order was.

According to Paul Gutierrez of ESPN, Davis said Tom Telesco has the final say in terms of the 53-man roster. He then followed that up by saying, "But they work together." Davis also made it known that Tom Delaney remains in charge of the salary cap situation since fans are worried about Telesco doing what he did to the Los Angeles Chargers.

This was a big debacle during the season when it all happened. It was important that Davis made it known who was in charge. After the press conference, it seems like the two will work together well. Pierce and Telesco already have what appears to be good chemistry; however, they did not know each other prior, which was also huge for Davis in the hire.
