This week has been a bit crazy for the Las Vegas Raiders, even though they are not one of the two teams participating in the Super Bowl, They are, though, hosting the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, which has set some fans off.
The one issue Raiders fans is the fact that the Kansas City Chiefs are in the Raiders locker room. Fans hate this, especially when you factor in that there is a UNLV locker room and an away locker room both teams could use. They don't really have to use the home team locker room. Luckily the Raiders covered the shield so teams wouldn't step all over it on purpose.
But, seriously, this is really bothering Raiders fans. They don't like that their two biggest rivals are in their area taking over, and that's understandable. But, hopefully, some of the Chiefs players, like Patrick Mahomes, being classy helps a bit.
"I saw their facility, and it is sweet," Mahomes said Monday night. "So I'm glad we are out there practicing, but it will be a great week."
The new issue fans have, though, is with owner Mark Davis and what he said when asked his thoughts on the Chiefs being in the Raider's locker room.
"As I was telling everybody, the Chiefs and the 49ers are my two favorite teams other than the Raiders," Davis said jokingly. "Hey, listen, they earned it."
And, as much as fans will hate it, the Chiefs did earn it. It's very hard to get to the Super Bowl. If it wasn't, the Raiders would have a playoff win in the last 20 years, but they don't. This is part of hosting the Super Bowl. If you don't like it as a team, do better and make it to the big one. That's all Raider Nation really wants.
