The Las Vegas Raiders have one specific thing over every other team when it comes to attracting free agents. They have the best defensive player in the league, Maxx Crosby, who is a guy everyone wants to play with. There is a reason Christian Wilkins so badly wanted to be a Raider, outside of the money, of course.

Playing with Crosby has to be the defensive equivalent of playing with Patrick Mahomes on offense. Other players seek out and want to play with guys like that. That's very similar to what one of the Raiders' biggest free agent steals last offseason did.

As he would describe it, playing with Crosby is a dream come true. And I can definitely see where he is coming from.

"I love the group of guys we have in the locker room," Robert Spillane said on The Rush with Maxx Crosby podcast when asked what enticed him to play for the Raiders. "Playing behind a guy like Maxx [Crosby] is a dream for any off-the-ball linebacker, when their defensive end can go and make 100 tackles a season and play 100% of the snaps, and just do it the right way.

"It just makes my job easier. I tell him, you go eat, and we will try and clean it up. You're the best player in the league. Go do what you do, and the guys around you will play off of you. It's really a blessing and an honor."

The Raiders snagged Spillane for two years for $7 million, which feels like pennies now that we have seen him play. He made so many big plays last season, like the walk-off interception against the New York Jets and countless others. He was also a great captain and the perfect player on a defense like the Raiders, which was trying to find its way back to how it is supposed to be cultural.

Having Crosby allows the Raiders to get players like that—undrafted guys who have turned their careers around and want to continue to get better but need a good situation. And let me tell you, the situation was perfect for Spillane. Playing behind Crosby has been amazing for the defense.
