It's weird typing that because I cannot remember the last time the defense did something that good. Maybe in 2016, which was the last time they had a positive turnover differential. I don't think the defense is back to being dominant like they were a long time ago when John Madden was coaching; however, they did play well.
But maybe this is just the start for them. Maybe this is where the defense starts to go on a roll. After hearing Maxx Crosby talk about the defense, I think we have to believe they will eventually.
"Everyone is saying it was a fluke we held the Chargers to nothing in the second half, and then we come out, and we play better this week, so for us, it's about being solution-based and being better every time we go out on the field," Crosby said in the locker room after the big win. "We hear a lot of noise, but at the end of the day, we are out there, and we have to win."
Crosby is implying that the defense is getting better every week, which, if you look at the defense after the Bills game, they kind of are, in certain situations at least. This could get scary for the next few opponents if that is the case.
The Raiders' defense isn't great yet, but if we see them continuing to get better, all we need then is the offense to get its stuff together.
