The New Orleans Saints are certainly entertaining the idea of Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr being their next QB. The Saints have emerged as the first aggressive suitor for the veteran signal caller over the past few days.
Yesterday, the Saints had their first meeting with Carr. Apparently, it went pretty well.
They had dinner during the evening, and that lasted until 10:30 P.M. CST. The Raiders have allowed Carr to communicate with the Saints even while he remains under contract with Las Vegas.
For them, that is in hopes that those discussions can help to facilitate a trade for the quarterback.
The Raiders would much prefer getting compensation for Carr, rather than cutting him. The Saints could oblige in that scenario, but the nothing has been agreed to yet.
Today, the situation between the Saints and Carr took another notable twist.
Carr is meeting with the Saints for a second day in a row.
This could be a major development, or it could be more of yesterday's duties.
Regardless, it sounds like Carr has a lot of interest in the Saints. For New Orleans, the meeting yesterday must have been a success.
It's all good news for the Raiders.
Moving Carr for a middle round pick (or better) in the draft is a victory over cutting him and intaking dead cap for no return. Las Vegas needs to take care of this sooner rather than later, and things are certainly in motion for that.
Keep your eyes peeled in the coming days, Raiders fans.
