The Las Vegas Raiders have a new layer on the onion that is the Jimmy Garoppolo offseason saga.

The Raiders have been all in the news lately as we have come to find out that free agent acquisition Jimmy Garoppolo failed his physical on signing day, and actually had to sign his contract the next day. We figured out that after the 49ers said he wouldn't need surgery on his foot, the Raiders said he would, and they still signed him.

This just makes the decision even more wild. But, when you factor in another layer to this that we found out again, it gets even crazier. Per Tashan Reed of The Athletic, If Garoppolo doesn't pass a physical by the time the season starts, the Raiders could move on at no cost.

But then they would be forced to start the 2023 season with Brian Hoyer and Aidan O'Connell as their quarterbacks, which just isn't ideal. Either way, it seems the Raiders may be screwed when it comes to their quarterback situation.

The Raiders really messed this whole situation up. They whiffed on a trade for Carr. Downgraded from Carr to Garoppolo, getting a guy who can't stay healthy. They then still brought him in after finding all of this out and failed to trade up for a quarterback in the draft.

The best case scenario to me is if they end up moving on from Garoppolo and just tanking this season to get either Caleb Williams or Drake Maye, where they then could just do a fresh start. But hey what do I know?
