The Las Vegas Raiders have a new quarterback.

For now at least, it'll be Jarrett Stidham after the team benched Derek Carr. The expectations can't be too high for Stidham as he has minimal starting experience in the NFL, but the Raiders are seeing what they have in him to close this season.

It's unlikely he'll be their 2023 starter, but he will join some impressive company this weekend. The start is a tad unique for Stidham.

He will join Jim Plunkett and Rich Gannon as the only three QBs to start a game for the Raiders after being drafted by the New England Patriots.

The matchup is about as tough as possible for the new QB of the Raiders.

They face the daunting 49ers defense. Their unit is one of the best in the NFL. Their pass rush might be tops in the entire NFL. Nick Bosa is arguably the best defender in the league right now. Overall, it will be quite the challenge for Stidham.

Davante Adams says that the team believes in his ability, though.

“We support and want to encourage him to do the best that he can for the betterment of the team and himself as well.”

Fans shouldn't get their hopes up, but a good performance from the QB would be welcome. The team needs some positive vibes to end a disappointing season in Las Vegas.

Regardless, Stidham is set to join a historic duo for the Raiders in his first start with the franchise.
