The Las Vegas Raiders have made another move on Tuesday.
On July 26, the Raiders ended up waiving former Cal quarterback Chase Garbers, who played in last season's preseason games. For the last two games of the season, when Jarret Stidham was the starter, Garbers was the backup.
On Tuesday, they ended up re-signing him, per Vincent Bonsignore.
A weird move, but maybe they needed to make room on the roster and guaranteed Garbers would be brought back. Things like that happen all of the time.
The quarterback room is officially how it was before training camp started: Jimmy Garoppolo, Brian Hoyer, Aidan O'Connell, and now Garbers, who will likely end up on the practice squad based on what's in front of him.
That's another reason the move is weird. They know he likely won't beat out the rookie they spent a good draft pick on or the two guys who have spent a ton of time in the system and are being paid more money, so why make the move to bring him back when they could be using that roster spot somewhere else? Better yet, when they could bring another quarterback on instead.
