The Las Vegas Raiders made one of the more surprising cuts during training camp.

We know that players are going to get cut. Teams have to go from 90 players on their roster to down to 53 just before the season starts. It isn't easy, but it happens and is part of the game.

The Raiders let a guy go who has been in the league for some time now and is looked at as a guy who once had a very high ceiling.

According to Vic Tafur of The Athletic, the Raiders have waived tight end O.J. Howard, who signed with the team as a free agent in the offseason.

This is surprising because of the free agency signing, and the tight end room isn't incredibly deep, so you would figure there would be a spot for Howard, even if it's the fourth tight end on the 53-man roster.

Who knows, though, the Raiders could end up bringing him back like they did quarterback Chase Garbers.

The Raiders also waived offensive tackle Justin Murray and linebacker Kana’i Mauga.
