The Las Vegas Raiders are taking hit after hit, and this time it's to the quarterback position.
When the Raiders kicked off training camp, we were informed that they would have a quarterback battle between Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell. O'Connell played with the team last season and was 5-5 in his starts, 5-4 under Antonio Pierce.
But, Minshew won the job through training camp. That was obviously the wrong decision, as he has been a turnover machine. When O'Connell won the job back a few weeks ago, the turnovers slowed down drastically.
Against the Los Angeles Rams, O'Connell was playing okay. He wasn't doing anything crazy, but he wasn't making many mistakes. He was doing what you expect him to do. That's not something you could have said about Minshew against the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers earlier this year.
However, O'Connell got hurt and appeared to have broken his thumb. We knew that, but now there's a new update on his timeline.
According to Ian Rapoport, O'Connell will be placed on IR, which means they will be without him for at least four weeks, but the report states it could be six weeks.\
O'Connell, is, though getting a second opinion.
This leaves the Raiders with Minshew, who had four turnovers against the Rams, and Carter Bradley. Expect them to make some changes very soon.
