The Las Vegas Raiders need their quarterback and they need him soon.

A few weeks ago, there was a report that quarterback Russell Wilson would be open to joining a team on a veteran minimum deal if it meant he was a starter. That means the teams that don't have a current quarterback with their spot held down could be landing spots for Wilson in 2024.

The Raiders were a name that popped up, making all of the world sense. A lot of the fan base was split on the idea, as they are with most things, but this one was truly smart. Just think about it:

Signing Wilson for a vet minimum would be amazing for the Raiders' cap situation. They could build around him so much better by using money and draft capital. And, let's not get it twisted, Wilson was not that bad this last season. He would certainly outplay his veteran contract.

However, while that idea was one of the smartest possible, seeing how hard it will be for the Raiders to move up in the draft to get a quarterback, it will not happen.

On Sunday night, Wilson made a decision to sign with a team.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the former Broncos quarterback is signing a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Raiders are officially out of the running for Wilson and will have to look elsewhere.
