The 2023 schedule has been released and one thing does not favor the Las Vegas Raiders very much, and it may make some fans upset.

There are always some pros and cons when the new schedule comes out for your favorite team, and for the Las Vegas Raiders, it's the same. When you talk about pros for their 2023 schedule, they have six primetime games when they honestly shouldn't. This was a team that went 6-11 last year, good enough for seventh worst in the league.

When you talk about cons, there is one thing the schedule makers did that the fans may not be too happy with. They pushed the home opener to Week 3, which is crazy when you consider everything going on with Allegiant Stadium in 2023.

The Las Vegas Raiders open their 2023 season on the road twice. The season opener is against a division opponent in Denver, and the second game is against the Buffalo Bills, a team that is supposed to be very good, just like they have been the last few years. Starting the Raiders on the road for the first two games against two tough opponents could have them coming home for the home opener at 0-2, and that just isn't fair to be honest.

Now, staring the season with two road games isn't unusual. There are four total teams who start the 2023 season that way, with one of them being the Raiders. The Dolphins, Packers, and 49ers all start their season the same way.

Here is the full schedule:

  • Week 1: @ Denver Broncos (Sunday Sept. 10, 1:25pm PST)
  • Week 2: @ Buffalo Bills (Sunday Sept. 17, 10:00am PST)
  • Week 3: vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (Sunday, Sept. 24, 5:25pm PST)
  • Week 4: @ Los Angeles Chargers (Sunday Oct. 1, 1:0fpm PST)
  • Week 5: vs. Green bay Packers (Monday Oct. 9, 5:15pm PST)
  • Week 6: vs. New England Patriots (Sunday Oct. 15, 1:05pm PST)
  • Week 7: @ Chicago Bears (Sunday Oct. 22, 10:00am PST)
  • Week 8: @ Detroit Lions (Monday Oct. 30, 5:15pm PST)
  • Week 9: vs. New York Giants (Sunday Nov. 5, 1:25pm PST)
  • Week 10: vs. New York Jets (Sunday Nov. 12, 5:20pm PST)
  • Week 11: @ Miami Dolphins (Sunday Nov. 19, 10:00am PST)
  • Week 12: vs. Kansas City Chiefs (Sunday Nov. 26, 1:25pm PST)
  • Week 13: BYE WEEK
  • Week 14: vs. Minnesota Vikings (Sunday Dec. 10, 1:05pm PST)
  • Week 15: vs. Los Angeles Chargers (Thursday, Dec. 14, 5:20pm PST)
  • Week 16: @ Kansas City Chiefs (Monday, Dec. 25, 10:00am PST)
  • Week 17: @ Indianapolis Colts (Sunday, Dec. 31, 10:00am PST)
  • Week 18: vs. Denver Broncos (Time/Date TBD)

To start the Raiders on the road two straight weeks means the stadium isn't being showcased. Why is that important? Well, Allegiant Stadium is the home of the Super Bowl this year, which is another reason why it is just so odd that they would do that. So, not only do we have to wait two weeks to see the location of this year's Super Bowl, but we also may see the home team starting the season 0-2.

Either way, even if they go 2-0 in that stretch, the fans still won't be happy that by that time 27 other teams Have already had their season opener. It's not like they are doing this because the Raiders started at home last year, because they didn't. Their first home game was Week 2 against the Cardinals. During that game, the stadium was three thousand people away from being sold out.
