There is no bigger and more passionate fan base when it comes to the history and the past than the Las Vegas Raiders. And, sure, some of that is because the team hasn't been good in a long time. Regardless, they are passionate.

And, that comes with the current iteration of the Raiders as well. The Raiders hired the perfect guy in Antonio Pierce when it comes to the identity and personality of being a Raiders head coach. In that aspect, he was great; he brought the energy, he had the quotes, and he did everything right, except for the coaching side of things. Now, the Raiders have a guy who has both sides of that in Pete Carroll, who built a solid culture and Super Bowl-winning team with the Seattle Seahawks, when they beat the Denver Broncos in one and lost to the New England Patriots in another.

Meanwhile, the Raiders haven't won a playoff game in 20 years, and they haven't won a Super Bowl in 40 years. So, they know how important it is to get a head coach who has done it, and done it somewhat recently.

And for Carroll,. he understands how important it is to be the head coach of the Raiders. He's learned a lot along the way, too, so far.

"Yeah, that I don't need to worry about what happened in the past. They've had a hard time for a number of years, and it hasn't been smooth in any way. But I grew up knowing the franchise and knowing Al Davis and what he was all about, being in the Bay Area and knowing that there's a rich history, there's a legacy, there's a brand that is worldwide, and there's something special about that. It was a great following. Raider Nation is the real deal. That was the focus for me, is to focus on figuring out how John and I can get together and do our stuff and be really effective, because I believe that's the most important relationship in NFL franchises," Pete Carroll said.

"And so, I wanted to maximize that. We really have a thought that we're creating a relationship-based organization. That means that you've got to get to know who is in the building, get to know who's coming in the building, who's playing for you, who's coaching with you and all that. It's really fun what we're doing, and we realize that there's some great challenges, but most of what I've learned about the past of the franchise doesn't have anything to do with what's going to happen in the next step that we take. So with all optimism and forward thinking, that's how we're approaching it."

It hasn't been long since he was hired, but Pete Carroll has already learned the ins and outs of what it's like to be the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. Because, let's be real, this is not your average head coaching gig. And this time around, there is a ton of pressure to finally get things on track.

The Raiders made the right decision, and when you listen to Carroll talk about the franchise as a whole, you can tell he really cares about this next step in his career.
